SHOCKING things in China’s airports

Today, I’m sharing some incredible features in China’s airports that just make sense.

Imagine landing at an airport after a 12-hour flight and finding free filtered water, a hot water station to make tea & coffee, and a quiet, spotless mother’s room—all without a fancy credit card to get you into a lounge. While these are certainly not unique to China, they’re still fairly rare around the world, and are thoughtful considerate additions that should really be everywhere.

And if you like discovering travel gems like this, I have a ton more, so be sure to like and subscribe.

[1] Super Affordable Vending Machine Snacks
First up on our list are these vending machines that have all kinds of drinks and snacks. and the BEST part are these prices.

In many countries, airport food is notoriously expensive. Even a bottle of water will easily run you over 5 dollars in the US, and even closer to 10 if your only option is some fancy glacial water.

But check out the prices on this vending machine, water is just 2 yuan, about 30 cents in US dollars, which is the same as what you would pay outside the airport, no markup.

There’s also instant noodles, tea, milk, and soft drinks for less than 1 USD, and the most expensive thing is only about 2 USD, that just seems so wild to my American born mind.

[2] Water Stations
Next are these water stations.
I found a couple of these around the terminal, and you can tell from this setup that they’re not just basic water fountains. It has cold, warm, and hot filtered water— which is perfect for tea or coffee, instant noodles, baby bottles, or even just staying hydrated.
They even include disposable cups if you don’t have your own bottle. It’s such a small thing but makes a big difference—especially if you’re like me and need a warm drink at all times.

[3] Children’s Playgrounds
Number three are these kids’ play areas.
They’re clean, look so cute, and thoughtfully located near the gates.
China is super family friendly in general so this comes as no surprise but I’m sure this is a game changer for who are traveling with kids. It gives kids a chance to run around and let out some energy before a long flight, which in turn makes the trip easier for everyone—parents, kids, and also nearby passengers.

[4] Designated Mother’s Rooms
Number four on the list are these mother’s rooms, which are so neat.
These are private, comfortable spaces for nursing, changing diapers, or simply getting a quiet moment with your baby.
For the parents watching this video, let me know what you think of these spaces.

[5] Accessible Standalone Restrooms
And finally, accessible bathrooms.
Instead of being tucked away in the back of a larger public restrooms, these standalone options are easy to access and clearly labeled. They’re designed with space and convenience in mind—which is amazing for wheelchairs, strollers, and other circumstances where a little more space is needed. I really love how thoughtful and inclusive this is.

And that wraps up my 5 favorite features, which of these features would you love to see in your local airport? And let me know in the comments if there are other awesome airport features that you’ve seen.
